By now you have seen numerous news reports and messages regarding the COVID-19 (aka – Corona Virus) and how businesses are handling things in light of this pandemic. Now, it is our turn to address business operations and rumors that may be floating out there.

At this time, it is business as usual at Tate & Associates. We are going to maintain our tax season operating hours of Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm. If you currently have a tax planning session scheduled, we are happy to honor that meeting or change it to a telephone meeting if you prefer. Just let our office know. If you have not yet scheduled your tax planning session you may want to do so quickly. As per our usual policy, we need your information dropped off prior to April 1st to ensure completion and extensions are timely filed. You must notify us that you need an extension. These are still due April 15, 2020.

As always, we strive to maintain a clean and safe workplace for our employees, clients, vendors and guests. Our office is professionally cleaned once a week. We are taking extended measures to keep the lobby area, conference room and other common area’s cleaned and sanitized continuously throughout the day. All files are sanitized upon arrival.

If you would like to setup access to an online portal to submit documents in support of preparing your tax return, or to have a copy of your tax return mailed to you please let our offices know. We do accept credit card or ACH withdrawals directly from your account. Please contact our offices to setup these payment options for your tax preparation or any other service you may be utilizing with our firm.

If you would like an extension filed for your tax return, we are happy to do so. Please contact our offices to request this extension. Please keep in mind, this is an extension to file, not an extension to pay any tax you may owe. Those payments will still need to be made to the appropriate taxing entity by April 15th. However, the federal government has extended payments to the Internal Revenue Service up to 90 days interest and penalty free. The States, including Idaho, have not allowed for an extension of time to pay. Please note that Idaho will not approve an extension if you owe money and fail to send in a payment.

As there are rumors that the Government may extend the tax filing deadline past April 15th or suspend payroll tax payments due to this pandemic keep in mind that it is just that, rumors. As we stated, until instructed otherwise by the Center for Disease Control (CDC), Panhandle Health District, or the Governor’s Office of the Great State of Idaho it is business as usual at Tate & Associates. Should any changes come up, we will address those at that time.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our offices during our business hours of 8am to 5pm Monday through Friday through April 15th.

Thank you & stay safe!

The entire staff at Tate & Associates
